Week One at the MTC

What an amazing week! First, we went into the MTC a day earlier than most missionaries (Tuesday instead of Wednesday). This is because the new mission presidents arrived on Wednesday. I was able to meet my district members and they are all great.

Because the mission presidents are being trained, many of the apostles came to visit! Elder Bednar gave a great devotional about developing discipleship and obedience. At one of our breaks we decided to check out another floor in our building and went up to the sixth floor which was all decked out for a dinner for the apostles. We quickly left and went downstairs. After our meetings we were standing outside the building and many of the apostles started to come by. Elder Uchtdorf stopped to talk for a bit. Then Elder Holland was driven up in a cart. He got out came straight up to me, pounded me in the chest, and asked "So, Elder where are you going to serve?" I told him North Dakota Bismarck and then he asked me where I was from. He asked if I was a Pioneer (since that is the name of one of the High Schools in Lehi), but I told him I went to Skyridge! It was such an awesome experience. I had been talking all week to my district about how I would love to meet him since I love his talks. I later found out that one of my district members had been praying that I would get to meet him. It was incredible that I was able to have this experience and I am grateful for the Elder who prayed for me.

You can't see me but I am right behind the pillar talking to Elder Holland!

We do get time to exercise and have even played a little sand volleyball outside. I also helped other Elder's iron their clothes (thanks mom and dad for teaching me!).

And, last but not least, me and my companion Elder Heiner. He is 6'4"!

I love you all!

To the MTC!

On June 22nd I entered the MTC. We took a few pictures at the Provo Temple before I was dropped off.

Sending one last goodbye message to all my friends and family.

At Home MTC

On June 13th I started at home MTC. I was excited to meet my companion, Elder Heiner, and all the members of my District. It was a great experience except that I was very ill for a few days and missed some material.

I had a virus and got severely dehydrated, so they had to pump me up with fluids in the emergency room.

Other than that, it was a good first week!

Mission Call!

As many of you know, I have been preparing to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I recently received my call and I am going to the:

North Dakota Bismarck Mission

A few facts about this mission:

* It is the largest mission, area-wise, in the United States.

* It includes North Dakota, parts of South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska and Minnesota

* The highest temperature in North Dakota was 121F and the lowest temperature was -60F. Both temperatures were recorded in 1936

*The average summer temperature is 78.8F

*Temperatures in the winter fall below 0F for an average of 40-70 days

*There are 8 Native American Reservations in the mission area

I will start online MTC on June 13th and report to the MTC on June 22nd. I will fly to North Dakota on July 5th.

I am excited to serve in this area!
